Would-be wedded couples are invited to take a peek behind the scenes as Darlington’s Register Office (within the Town Hall) hosts an Open Day on Saturday 15 February from 10am-3pm.
The event will give anyone planning to get married, or having a civil partnership ceremony, the chance to meet Register Office staff, look at the options available and find out about how a ceremony at the venue is hosted.
Situated within the Town Hall, the Register Office offers a choice of three marriage rooms to suit different needs and budgets. Hosting more than 250 ceremonies a year, it is the most popular place to get married in Darlington.
As well as Register Office staff, who will be there to give advice, there will also be a local photographer, wedding car hire company and party planner on hand to share their experience and knowledge.
Councillor Charles Johnson, Darlington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Efficiency and Resources, said:
“This is a great opportunity to have a look around and see what’s on offer; and what better day to do it than the day after Valentine’s Day.
“Planning a wedding, or a civil partnership, can be stressful. This event will help to ease the pressure and help people make choices to suit their needs and budget. It’s a great chance to talk to our experienced team and discuss the choices available locally as well as answer any questions.”
Register Office staff will also be attending a range of other wedding events hosted by local hotels throughout the coming months, giving more people chance to meet the team.
