Countdown to Darlington Business Week

First published: Friday 20 Sep 2019

WITH just over two weeks to go, places are filling up on the third ever Darlington Business Week.  More than twenty free events are set to take place across five days from Monday 7 until Friday 11 October.

The Chamber of Commerce Chamber Exchange event is now full and slots are filling up on the NEPO Business Club, doing business with the council, sessions on Thursday 10 October. There is also limited availability for the launch event on Monday 7 October which will see Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen take to the stage with an overview of opportunities across the region.

To cater for demand and interest, new sessions have been added to the programme. These include an introduction to health and safety, Human Resources, how to boost sales, supply chain management and mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Across five days free networking events, workshops and seminars, will take place at a range of venues across the town, giving local and regional businesses of all sizes the chance to meet fellow business people and find out how they can access what’s on offer to help them grow and develop their companies.

Advice on funding and business growth, exporting, Trading Standards, training, social media and marketing, social enterprise, preventing digital and cyber fraud and scams, including a live online hack, will be on offer throughout the week.

Councillor Alan Marshall, the council’s cabinet member for Economy and Regeneration, said:

“The wide range of events and workshops is staggering and I would advise any business, large or small, to take a look at what’s on offer and book a place sooner rather than later.

“This is an ideal opportunity to learn and gain advice from industry experts to help your business grow. I am looking forward to launching what promises to be an exciting and productive week for our local business community.”

Organised by the council’s Business Investment team, the Week is supported by a wide range of organisations including Business Central, Barclays Bank, Citizen’s Advice, The Police, North East England Chamber of Commerce, Clive Owen, Darlington College, Teesside University, TEDCO and Darlington Business Club.
