New Independent Businesses in Darlington You Need to Know About

Darlington is bustling full of incredible independent businesses. So much so it can be difficult to keep track of all the new businesses coming into our town. But not to worry, we have compiled a list below of the exciting new businesses that have taken up residence in Darlington over recent weeks.

 

Arcadia

Arcadia has only just opened its doors to gaming lovers and is based on Skinnergate. It promises the “ultimate arcade experience”. The entertainment complex is packed with VR games, racing simulators, console gaming, retro games and more. There is also more to come such as a rage room, sports simulator and a laser tag arena. As well as being full to the brim of thrilling games, there is also a bar offering themed cocktails, beers and spirits, soft drinks, coffee and snacks. It is the perfect day out for all ages and no booking is required.

 

The Flameroom

The Flameroom has recently opened on Bondgate, serving prime steaks. The meat centred restaurant has a broad menu with several steak options to choose from, including fillet, ribeye, sirloin and prime rump. As well as steaks, The Flame Room also offers burgers and parmos. They also have a selection of vegetarian and vegan options available.

 

The Chopping Block

The Chopping Block only opened to customers as of last month and is situated between The Vault and Shape Patisserie. Founded by Ory Vanes and Matt Waistel, the duo spotted a gap in the market. They’ve already acquired an experienced butcher, a shop manager and two apprentices. All the meat is sourced from around the North East and North Yorkshire regions, to stay local and sustainable.

 

The Greedy Goat (Hurworth)

The Greedy Goat also opened in April and is situated in the nearby village of Hurworth, on Church Row. The new deli aims to positively promote healthy living and locally sourced food. The deli serves a wide range of healthy food such as yoghurts, breakfast oats, kefir pots and salad pots, as well as pastries and sandwiches. There is plans for The Greedy Goat to expand into a restaurant soon.

 

The Loft

The Loft is the sister restaurant to already super-popular Asian restaurant, Taipan, and is based on Crown Street. The Loft offers an extensive menu of steaks, seafood, burgers, parmos, ribs and chicken. They also have a selection of delicious sharing steak boards to choose from.

 

Jasper’s Tasty Treats

One for the pooches! Jasper’s Tasty Treats has recently opened on Blackwellgate and they sell a range of pure, grain free, 100% natural dog treats. As well as treats, the new pet shop also sells a wide variety of pet accessories. It is the perfect place to visit if you’d like to treat your pet to some biscuits or a new lead. Darlington have plenty of places to visit with your precious pooch, see whereabouts in town dogs are also allowed to visit here.

 

The Corner House

Talking Tides have took over The Corner House on Duke Street. The pub now boasts 11 different craft beers, including several of Talking Tide's own unique brands.

 

Darlington’s independent business scene is bustling and is certainly worth exploring. It is fantastic to see so many new businesses joining the hundreds of already established independents in our town.
